Bring in YoJoe
reference photos.

Use the YoJoe pages that open on your own computer to make a portable reference file. Start with one figure. Review its name, release year, version, and photos before importing a year.

Live YoJoe compatibility is not yet verified. Parsing has been checked against test pages based on the screenshots you supplied. YoJoe’s actual page structure or image restrictions may require an adjustment. No paid service or API key is used.

1. Add the importer bookmark

Updated: front-only import, retry & resume. If you installed an earlier bookmark, replace it with the version below. Download any JSON from your old importer before closing it. The new version accepts one front photo, keeps other views optional, and can load your earlier JSON to retry skipped entries.

On a computer, open this page in Chrome or Edge. Show your bookmarks bar, then drag the button below onto it.

Chrome shortcut: Windows Ctrl + Shift + B · Mac ⌘ + Shift + B

Drag to bookmarks → YoJoe importer

This bookmark runs the readable code linked below on YoJoe only. It reads public figure details and labelled photos, then saves them to a file on your computer. It does not send data to Joe Field Guide, read account status, or change your YoJoe collection.

Manual bookmark setup

Create a bookmark named YoJoe importer. Edit its address and replace it with the entire text below.

Do not paste this into the address bar or change browser security settings. If the bookmark is blocked, use the saved-page fallback below.

2. Test one figure

  1. Open the 1989 archiveOpen YoJoe’s 1989 page ↗
  2. Click your new “YoJoe importer” bookmarkA small panel should appear on the YoJoe page.
  3. Click “Test one figure”The importer reads one detail page and attempts to download its front photo. Back and side views are optional; one front photo is enough. You can also run it while already on a figure’s detail page.
  4. Review the resultConfirm the name, version and release year against the source page. Missing or unclear records are skipped rather than guessed.
  5. Download the test JSONBring it back to Joe Field Guide → Import & backup → Choose JSON file.

3. Import a year, then scan

After a successful test on a year page, click Import this year. The importer follows the year grid’s figure thumbnails, visits one record at a time with pauses, skips duplicate links, and reports errors. If a detail page uses a legacy layout, its linked front thumbnail can serve as the reference; a note records that fallback. Keep that tab open. Every completed figure, including its photos, is automatically saved in this browser. You can stop and download completed records at any time.

Bring forward an earlier export

Download the JSON from your current importer first. Replace the bookmark, close the old panel, and reopen the new importer on the same year page. Click Load previous JSON and choose your downloaded file. It restores completed figures and eligible skipped URLs. Click Retry skipped to reattempt those entries without repeating the completed figures.

Resume after leaving the page

Return to the same YoJoe year page in the same browser and click the updated importer bookmark again. It restores saved records. Choose Resume this year to skip completed figures, or Download JSON to export the saved portion immediately. A figure interrupted before it was fully saved will be retried.

Autosaves belong to the YoJoe site in that browser. Use the same address, including www and HTTPS, and avoid clearing site data or using private browsing. Run one importer tab per year at a time. Keep downloading JSON backups; browser storage can still be cleared or evicted.

Download the JSON and import it into Joe Field Guide. Check the new records before relying on matches. Faction and series are left for review rather than inferred.

Reference matching data is prepared on your device during the first scan after import. A large import can take several minutes to prepare. There are no per-scan API charges.

For scanning on your phone: transfer the JSON file to your phone and import it there too. This edition stores data per browser; importing on your computer does not automatically sync your phone.

If the test fails

The panel stops on rejected requests, rate limits, or verification pages. It does not bypass website protections. Browser image restrictions or changes to YoJoe’s layout may also prevent an import.

Copy the panel’s error message and send it here. As a fallback, save one figure page on your computer as Webpage, Complete, zip the HTML and its accompanying folder, and upload that ZIP here so the parser can be checked against the actual files.

Only import reference images you are entitled to use. Original photographers retain their rights; the source link and credit are kept with the records.
